Barcelona suffered their third defeat in the post-39 unbeaten matches record era which started on April 2, when 10-man Real Madrid defeated Enrique’s men 2-1 at Camp Nou.
However, Barcelona defeated 10-man Atletico in the first leg of the quarter-final of the champions league, lost 1-0 to Real Sociedad in the domestic league, and the most recent being a 0-2 away loss to Atletico Madrid who sent them out of the champions league.
Prior to this day, Barcelona were seen as a team likely to win the treble, but having dropped six points in two consecutive Laliga matches and are out of the the champions, that dream seemed to have become a mirage.
Though Barcelona are still on top of the Laliga table with 76 points, they are trailed by a determined Atletico Madrid who are three points away from them, while Madrid is third with four points separating them from Barcelona.
With six matches left to end of season, Barcelona need to concentrate on their remaining domestic league matches and ensure they win all, otherwise they face a risk of not winning the Spanish Laliga title.
