Pellegrini men were on top of their game yesterday, when they thrashed hopeful Chelsea at Stamford Bridge by 3 goals to nothing to kill their dream of finishing top four in the premier league this season.

Sergio Aguero’s hat-trick was all that was needed to make City excel at Stamford bridge. The Argentine opened scoring in the 33′ minutes through a shot that was deflected and put Pellegrini’s men on the lead.

Aguero’s second goal came through a counter-attack in the 54′ minutes, that saw the Argentine ensure that they were in comfortable lead, putting more pressure on the host, who were working out some strategies to get an equalizer, and seeing the possibility of a win.

Things got worse for the blues, when Fernandinho was brought down by Courtois in the 78′ minutes of play, and referee Mike Dean did not just award a penalty, but issued a straight red card to the goal-keeper, before Aguero converted the opportunity into a third goal for the visitors, completing the hat-trick for himself.

The third goal made it Aguero’s twenty-one goal for the season, before the Argentine was replaced in the 85′ minutes with Nigeria’s Kelechi Iheanacho.

The defeat also moved City to third position on the premier league table with 60 points, trailed by Arsenal who are yet to play their own match.

City who recently made a historic qualification into the semifinal of the UEFA Champions league, also needed to stamp their feet in the domestic league, and this win over Chelsea at Stamford bridge, is one sure way of doing that.
