Liverpool will be taking on Villarreal today in the first-leg of the semifinal of the Europa Cup, despite the injury challenge the team is faced with. Key players such as Emre Can (ankle injury), Joe Gomez (knee injury), Jordan Henderson (knee injury), Divock Origi (ankle injury) and Danny Ings (knee injury) are all expected to stay away.
Liverpool who scaled through to the semifinal after beating Borussia Dortmund in a highly entertaining second leg quarter-finals which saw Klopp’s men come from a 3-1 down to win 4-3, progressing to the semi-finals on 5-4 aggregate.
However, Klopp expressed joy in the return of one of the team’s striker return Christian Benteke, who has been away since March with Belgium. It is best news Christian is back, said Reds boss Jurgen Klopp.

His return is a boost for the team, as he remains one striking option since Divock Origi got injured in the 4-0 defeat of Everton and will be out in today’s clash.
However, Villarreal head coach Marcelino has boasted well of his side’s good record at home, during their Europa League campaign. They have won every game at El Madrigal, and have conceded just only one goal.
Marcelino also boasts of the presence of in form strikers Roberto Soldado and Cedric Bakambu who are fit and are ready to lead the line, with skipper Bruno set to lead his side out at El Madrigal.
Interestingly, this is the first time Villarreal and Liverpool will be meeting in Europe.
