Luca Silligardi scored the decisive goal in a narrow win as Verona defeated seven times European champions Milan 2-1 at the Marcantonio Bentegodi stadium.
Milan took the lead in the 20′ minutes putting the host behind, and held on to the result until half-time. The host came back in the second half through a penalty kick in the 77′ minutes giving them confidence to play Milan.
Things however got out of hand for Milan when a four minute injury time was added in the second half. Verona got a free-kick at the edge of the 18-yard box and Silligardi converted it into a goal. The goal came at the nick of time exactly when the finally whistle was expected to blow and it came no sooner than that.
Despite the loss, Milan still remain sixth on the table with 53 points but are closely trailed by Sassulo who are seventh on the table with 52 points.
