Joe Hart kept a clean sheet for Manchester City, as their hope of reaching their first Champions League final is still alive with two brilliant late saves that ensured their semi-final first leg with Real Madrid finished goalless.

Madrid was without star striker Cristiano Ronaldo due to a thigh injury, and his absence was felt by Zidane’s side, Madrid offered little  or no goal threat in the first half, until the closing stages when serious goal attempt was made.

Jese’s header in the last 20 minutes of play hit against the bar for the Spanish side before Joe Hart brilliantly denied Casemiro and Pepe two scoring chances through corner-kicks and this reminded Madrid of Ronaldo’s absence.

Though City possessed the ball more in the first half, but they were unable to create scoring chances. The second half was more of Madrid coming out to attack before  Joe Hart proved himself worthy to be in the goal post, while the closest time City created an opportunity was when Keylor Navas tipped over Kevin de Bruyne’s free-kick in stoppage time.

City will be travelling to Spain in a week time to play the second leg of the match, but that will be while Ronaldo will be back hopefully for the clash.
