Barcelona have continued to enjoy their post three-consecutive-league-match-loss, as they thrashed Sporting Gijon 6-0 at Camp Nou, to move back to the top of the Spanish La Liga table.
Barcelona opened scoring in the 12th minutes through Lionel Messi who headed in the ball, putting the Catalans in the drivers seat. and a game in which a high margin of goals were scored actually had the first half end in a 1-0 lead.
Play continued in the second half when Barca scored her second goal through Luis Suarez. Two penalties were awarded in the 74th and 77th minutes and Suarez quickly converted both to goals, giving an opportunity for the Uruguay to score a hat-trick for his side and putting Barcelona in a 4-0 lead.
A third penalty was also awarded in the 85th minutes, after Vranjes touches Neymar and Neymar appealed for a penalty. He did not just get it, but Vranjes was sent-off this time for a second booking and Neymar converted this to a fifth goal for Barcelona, putting Luis Enrique’s men in comfortable 5-0 lead.
The sixth goal of the match came in the 88th minutes through Luis Suarez, as the Uruguay scored his fourth goal in two matches making the score line 6-0 for Barcelona and sending the Catalans back to the top of the table.
Interestingly, this is the first time in their last seven meetings that Barcelona will record such high margin of goals against Sporting Gijon.
