Both teams (St. Giles and St. Cecilia Choir) played with black arm-bands on, and a One-Minute silence was observed before the football match was played at the University of Lagos pitch with all fans of both teams present standing.

St. Cecilia Choir took the lead on two occasions and St. Giles came back on two occasions in the first half, before St. Giles eventually scored a third and fourth goal in the second half, to win the match under the unfavourable weather, paying tributes to the late Pa Kester. In all the four goals scored by St. Giles Choir, no jubilation or celebration was done as a mark of honour for the late Pa Kester.

Until his death on Friday May 20th, Pa Kester was an ardent fan of one of the Spanish Giants FC Barcelona, a football critic and a lover of good football.

The corpse of the late Pa Kester Onwuemene was taken to his home town in Delta State, and was buried same day according to the request made by the late veteran-chorister before he passed-on.
