England’s only hope in the on going champions league took a bow yesterday at Santiago Bernebeu, when 10 times European champions Real Madrid defeated them by 1-0.
The first leg of the match ended in a goalless draw, the win makes Madrid go through to the final of their 14th European Cup final on 1-0 aggregate, with a date with Atletico Madrid at Milan on May 28.
City needed just an away goal to scale through, but their was no serious plan to get that as the host dominated the game and were even more determined to score more.
Manchester City goalkeeper Joe Hart, who saved City from losing the first leg, came to the rescue to give City hope until the final whistle, otherwise City would have conceded more goals.
Pellegrini’s men who are so far the last team standing for England, are now expected to concentrate on their remaining two league matches in and at least finish at the top four.
