Former NBA player Sean Rooks had heart disease and died in a restaurant from a heart attack according to the Philadelphia Medical Examiner’s Office, after having a coaching job interview. according to mail online.
Rooks 46, who played in the NBA For 12 years before retiring in 2004 was an assistant coach with the Philadelphia 76ers, passed away only hours after being interviewed for a job on the coaching staff of the New York Knicks.
A spokesperson form the coroner’s office told TMZ that Rooks’ body had been examined that he ‘believes Rooks died of heart disease.’
The ex-NBA star had returned to Philly after meeting with the Knicks’ new head coach, Jeff Hornacek, president Phil Jackson and general manager Steve Mills.
He met the Knicks team in Tarrytown, New York , and was met with an ‘enthusiastic’ response.
He then took the train back to Philadelphia, where he later died, after suffering a heart attack at a restaurant in the city.
