Football loving fans in Nigeria will get a boost as the two Spanish giants (Real Madrid & Barcelona) prepare to visit Nigeria on a playing tour very soon. This was disclosed by the President of La Liga, Javier Tebas who gave the assurance in Abuja during the official opening of the Nigeria La Liga office.
The new La Liga office in Abuja, which has a management of Nigerian and Spanish staff is a dividend of the collaborative agreement reached between the League Management Company of Nigeria (LMC) and the Spanish La Liga organizers.
Tebas who spoke during the event assured that the bilateral agreement will be of benefit to both nations as there will always be one thing that one league can learn from the other. He also pointed out that Nigerian players were already plying their trade in Spain for a long time as this is one good reason for this relationship.
He also stated that the already scheduled game between the Nigerian Premier League stars with their Spanish counter part which is expected to hold next week in Spain is a product of the result of the mutual relationship.
In his response, Chairman of the LMC and first vice president of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Mallam Shehu Dikko said the choice of La Liga is because it is the best league in the world and that Nigeria stands to learn a lot from them. According to him, the effort of making Nigeria be like Spain in the administration of football has started yielding results as no fewer than 10 leagues across Africa have already signified interest to come and understudy the Nigerian LMC. Dikko however appealed for the support of everybody to ensure that Nigerian football was developed to its full potentials.
