Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola, is set to lead his club against Steaua Bucuresti today, as City host the Romania side at Etihad Stadium in the first leg match play-off of the uefa champions league qualifier for the 2016/2017 season.
The 45-year-old former Barcelona manager, inherited a Manchester City that did not get an automatic slot to the European champions league after they finished fourth position under former manager Pellegrini.
Since the fourth position in England is expected to get involved in the play-off, Pep is now faced with the test of ensuring that City qualifies for the continental tournament when they face their visitors today.
This is the first time Pep will be faced with such challenge, as he has always taken charge of clubs that had already gotten the slot for the annual European club tournament, and he has never left any club for someone to inherit without putting them in comfortable position to qualify.
