Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has dedicated the 2016 Community shield win to United former boss Louis Van Gaal and also to other seven players who were not included in the squad for the match.
Mourinho said it was possible for United to play in the community shield because Louis Van Gaal helped the team win the FA Cup, and at such he deserves to be honoured. If he (Van Gaal) did not win the FA Cup, United would not be part of this, and at such I dedicate the win to him.
FA Cup holders Manchester United won 2-1 against premier league champions Leicester City at Wembley on Sunday, to take the prize in the traditional curtain-raiser for the new season.
Former Paris Saint-German forward Zlatan Ibrahimovic headed lately to seal the win for Manchester United, after Jesse Lingard, who also scored the match-winning goal in the FA Cup final, had put them 1-0 ahead.
