Pep Guardiola Gets Gabriel Jesus For Manchester City

Pep Guardiola has ensured that Manchester City completed the signing of 19-year-old Brazilian forward Gabriel Jesus from Palmeiras on a five-year contract, the Premier League club announced on Wednesday.

The Brazillian forward, who is reported to have cost City an initial fee of £27 million ($36 million, 32.2 million euros), still remains on loan at Palmeiras until December before moving to Manchester in January to join the team.

The 19-year-old is currently on national assignment at the Rio de Janeiro Olympic Games for host Brazil, where he is expected to play key role in helping Brazil win her first ever Olympic gold in men football.

The Brazilian forward was quoted to saying on the club’s website, that “Manchester City is one of the best clubs in the world so I’m really pleased to sign,” “We have many great talents in the team and a fantastic manager in Pep Guardiola that I can learn so much from.

“I’m looking forward to showing the City fans what I can do and I think we’ll have a great future together!”

The news of Gabriel Jesus arrival comes a day after City announced the signing of Germany international Leroy Sane from Schalke 04 for a reported fee of £37 million.

Gabriel is Pep Guardiola’s sixth signing for Manchester City, following the earlier arrival of the likes of  Ilkay Gundogan, Nolito, Oleksandr Zinchenko and Aaron Mooy.

Manchester City’s director of football Txiki Begiristain said: “We are delighted that Gabriel has chosen to join us.
