Yaya Toure and Bastian Schweinsteiger are two “former key players” of their respective clubs, who have lost favour in the sight of their new managers.

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola says he will not play Toure, until his agent apologizes for the comment he made about the non inclusion of the 33-year-old Ivorian in the squad. Toure got a chance to play under Pep, and was about to get his second chance when the issue triggered-off.

On the other hand, Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has said it will be difficult for the 32-year-old World Cup winning midfielder to play for United again.

However, finance expert Kevin Roberts and founder of Sport Business Group believes that players are like machineries that may be abandoned if they become obsolete or overtaken by advances in technology.

Roberts told BBC Sports that companies invest heavily on purchase of machineries, but the moment there is another machinery that seems to be more technologically advanced than the one in use, they are abandoned and the new one is acquired, irrespective of the price which the former was purchased.
