Pep Guardiola’s unbeaten record since arrival at Manchester City in all competitions ended in a bitter manner today, after Tottenham handed his side a 2-0 defeat at White Hart Lane stadium, denying City the maximum three points they have enjoyed in their last six premier league games.

City had hoped to extend their lead with three points at the expense of their host, but Spurs were quick to use the opportunity and prove to City that they have their eyes on the premier league also.

The host did not just win, they employed physical power in their approach, and also proved to be men as they merely made City look like boys who were playing men in the game.

Pochettino’s men took the lead in the first nine minutes, and by 37 minutes they had scored the second goal which gave them the win before half time. In fact, upon return in the second half things did not change, as they played with high intensity and determination to score a second goal.

Their effort to score a third goal became realistic in the 66th-minute, when Pochettino’s men got a penalty that would have extended their lead by three goals, but Claudio Bravo denied Erik Lamela that opportunity.

Despite the loss, Manchester City still remain on top of the premier league table with 18 points and are now been closely trailed by Tottenham Hotspur, who happens to be the architect of their loss and are just one point behind them.
