Bayern Munich manager Carlos Ancelotti will begin his rivalry with former club Real Madrid as both teams clash in the quarterfinals of the champions league.

The three times UEFA Champions league winner and former Madrid manager helped Madrid to win the club’s 10th European championship but was sacked a few months after achieving the feat.

Ancelotti who got appointment with Bayern upon his sack at Santiago Bernebeu, has not had an opportunity to visit the club whom he contributed to their success story, his first return will be to play against Zidane who happens to be part of his technical crew during his sojourn there.

Carlo Ancelotti expressed his opinion to uefa.com after the draw by saying “The match against Real Madrid will be special for me. It is going to be exciting to play against them. We have a lot of confidence and want to win the Champions League this season. I think we have the ability to beat Real Madrid. But they have a fantastic team with a fantastic coach.”

Madrid and Bayern last met while the Italian manager was in charge at Santiago Bernebeu and Madrid beat Bayern home and away to reach the final, interestingly, Ancelotti will also have to lead Bayern against his former club, where he is expected to prove a point.
