Ten Man Arsenal recorded England’s worst defeat in Champions League yesterday after Bayern Munich thrashed them 1-5 at the Emirates stadium and cruise to the quarterfinal on 10-2 aggregate.
The defeat is arguably the worst performance any English club would record in champions league history, and Arsenal became the scape-goat.
Although Arsenal took the lead in the first 20 minutes through Theo Walcott’s goal and held on to the lead till half time, things turned sour in the 54th minutes of the second half when Koscienly got a red card leading to a penalty which Lewandowski converted to a goal to give the visitors their first win.
Arjen Robben and Douglas Costa scored one goal each in the 68th and 78th minutes respectively while Vidal got a late brace in the 80th and 85th minutes respectively, sealing the win for Bayern.
