Manchester City crashed out yesterday after losing to Monaco on 6-6 aggregate with the away goal rule sending the last year semifinalist out of the competition. Their exit leaves Leicester City to become the burden bearer of England in the Champions league.
Leicester City may be seen as a defending champion that is not doing well in the premier league, but at least the Foxes have proved a point that England can only stand by them in Europe as they carry England’s flag along.
Tottenham left at the group stage, Arsenal suffered a two-legged heavy blow in Bayern’s hand in the knock-out stage, while Manchester City who had a 5-3 first-leg advantage failed to move on in a journey that all had hoped would be spectacular particularly with the presence of Pep Guardiola.
Leicester City who seemed to be the rejected stone are now keeping England’s hope alive, though they were written off after they were beaten in the first-leg against Sevilla in Spain, but little did all know that the Foxes are out to give all a surprise.
No one had expected Leicester City to win the premier league last season, and no one believes they will win the Champions league this season, but I see England having 5 representatives in the next champions league, this may seem unbelievable but its going to happen.
