Messi Shuns Pique And Shakira In His Wedding Plan

Barcelona and Argentina star Lionel Messi has refused to invite his club mate Gerard Pique and his wife Shakira to his wedding which is expected to take place on June 24, 2017 in Rosario. The Barcelona forward took this decision after a personal problem ensued between his wife-to-be and Shakira according to Spanish newspaper El Pais. Daily mail online reported that the issue between the pair reportedly stems from a problem Messi’s fiancee, Antonella Roccuzzo, has with how Pique started his relationship with pop star Shakira. Roccuzzo who was close friends with the Spaniard’s former girlfriend Nuria Tomas, was not happy with the way Pique dumped the lady for the popular pop musician. The two love birds (Pique and Shakira) met each other when the Barcelona defender was still in a relationship with Tomas, and he appeared in her music video Waka Waka, the official song of the 2010 World Cup held in South Africa. Though Pique told TV3 in October that ‘I met Shakira in Madrid, when we were preparing for the 2010 World Cup, and after appearing in the Waka Waka video. This whole incident have influenced the decision of the five-time Ballon d’Or winner from inviting his club mate to his wedding. Lionel Messi who will be celebrating his 30th birthday on same day with his wedding will be hoping to celebrate a double after Barcelona's magical qualification ahead of PSG in the round of 16.
