Monaco thrashed Borussia Dortmund for the second time to reach the semifinal for the first time since 2004 after an impressive performance before their home crowd. The French side who had a 3-2 away lead sealed up victory after thrashing the German side 3-1.
It was barely 3 minutes of play when Teenager Kylian Mbappe pounced from close range to increase Monaco’s advantage and Radamel Falcao headed in 14 minutes later to make the tie worse for Dortmund who will now need baskets of goals to scale through to the next stage.
Dortmund got what seemed like a consolation goal in the 48 minutes when Ousmane Dembele set up 19-year-old Marco Reus in an attack that yielded their only goal of the match.
Monaco will have to wait till Friday to discover their semi-final opponents when the draw is made, with Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid and Juventus all having equal chances to meet with the French side.
