Chelsea star Eden Hazard believes he has what it takes to break into Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi’s dominance by winning the Ballon d’Or , but insists he does not need to leave Chelsea to achieve such feat.

The 26-year-old who spoke to Sky Sport has been heavily linked to join Real Madrid this summer, he however  debunked such rumours and said he would not have to move to Spain to have the opportunity to win the famous prize.

Hazard believes that he can be crowned the ballon d’or winner in 2018 if he enjoys a unique cup double for both club and country. ” If I play next season, we win the Champions League and I win the World Cup with Belgium, why not?

Hazard, speaking to Sky Sports, said: “It’s in my mind. If I don’t, it won’t be a problem. I try to make a good career – the best I can – but I think some other players deserve to win it also. “When Ronaldo and Messi retire, maybe it will be another couple of players like Neymar, Paulo Dybala or Antoine Griezmann, who knows? We will see. It’s not something I think too much about.

“In the last 10 years, the Ballon d’Or winners play in Spain, but it’s not automatic. If a player is better in England, he will win it.”
