Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has said he will rest players for Sunday’s Premier League trip to Arsenal at the Emirate Stadium.
The Portuguese manager disclosed this after United’s 1-0 Europa League semi-final first-leg win at Celta Vigo on Thursday which was their 10th game since 1 April.
Mourinho noted that it would be inhuman to use same players who played on Thursday to play this weekend before his side host Celta Vigo at Old Trafford next Thursday.
Mourinho’s side are lying fifth in the Premier League, and the Europa League could be their best chance of reaching next season’s Champions League if they emerge winners.
“The players that have accumulated lots of minutes are not going to play next weekend,” Mourinho said during a post match press conference.
Marcus Rashford’s did the magic for his side after his free-kick gave United victory in Spain, along with an away goal to take back to Old Trafford for next Thursday’s second leg.
