Man Utd 1-1 Celta Vigo: England Set To Break Spain’s Monopoly of Champions League Five Slot

Manchester United narrowly got to the final of the Europa Cup after compelling Spanish side Celta Vigo to a 1-1 draw at Old Trafford stadium, in a match that meant much to both teams who were out to use winning the Europa Cup as their last hope of qualifying for the champions league.

Celta Viga currently are seated on the 12th position in the laliga table, reaching the final would simply mean continuing from where Sevilla stopped, which had made Spain have 5 representation in the champions league in the last two editions.

The clause of allowing winners of the Europa Cup qualify automatically to the champions league seemed to be an exclusive reserve for Spain, but with United’s edging out Celta in the semifinal, it seems to be a new dawn for England in the champions league.

Liverpool had the opportunity to increase England’s slot last season to 5, but it was Sevilla who denied them the opportunity after beating Klopp’s side in the final to win the championship for three consecutive times and qualify for the champions league.

It’s going to be tough for United to achieve this feat, particularly as they would be contending with an Ajax side who had already qualified for the champions league and just needed to win the Europa Cup for formality. Pressure would be soaked on England, to at least get this slot through United.
