Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo scored a hat-trick to give his side a 3-goal advantage over Atletico ahead of their second-leg encounter in the semifinal of the champions league.
Ronaldo whose hat-trick takes him to 103 goals in the champions league still felt Marid need to be careful ahead of their second-leg against their derby rivals Atletico.
“It’s an advantage and I won’t lie – a good, very good one,” Cristiano Ronaldo told UEFA.com after his treble against Atlético, but urged caution for the tie, warning: “Football is a box of surprises.”
Real Madrid have put Atletico in a tight corner, a situation where they will be forced to overturn a 3-0 deficit in the semifinal of the champions league, a record which no club has achieved in the semifinal of the competition since inception of the game.
Madrid will also be at the verge of becoming the first club to win the champions league back-to-back if they eventually scale through, only Manchester United had that opportunity in 2009 but lost it to Barcelona.
