AFCON 2019 Qualifiers: Security Beefed Up In Uyo As Super Eagles Hosts Bafana Bafana

The Nigeria Police Force says it has placed 500 officers on standby ahead of the AFCON 2019 qualifying match between the Super Eagles of Nigeria and the Bafana Bafana of South Africa in Uyo on Saturday according to reports from the NAN.

According to a statement issued by the Public Relations Officer of the Force’s Akwa Ibom Command, Chukwu Ikechukwu, on Wednesday, he said the officers are ready to ensure that there was a hitch-free event during the match.

Mr. Ikechukwu further reiterated that the state’s Commissioner of Police, Donald Awunah, is set to guarantee football-loving Nigerians an enjoyable and peaceful moment while Nigeria host South Africa in the South-South part of Nigeria

“The Commissioner of Police has directed that over 500 specially selected officers, who are knowledgeable in crowd-control and policing events, to provide top notch security before, during and after the football match.

He further advised all football-loving fans visiting the state to conduct themselves in very orderly and hospitable manner, this is to ensure that the peace and orderliness which the force intends to achieve is realized with their full support.
