Cameroon Will Be At The Russia 2018 World Cup Instead of Nigeria-Moukandjo

Captain of the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon Benjamin Moukandjo has stated clearly that his side will beat the Super Eagles of Nigeria to book the ticket to the Russia 2018 Fifa World Cup which is expected to take place in the summer of next year.

Cameroon and Nigeria will meet in a two-leg Fifa world cup qualifier within August/September this year, to battle for the top spot of Group B of the CAF qualifiers.

Cameroon will be looking up to their young stars to prove a point to Nigeria

Though the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon who are second on the table with two points, trail the Super Eagles of Nigeria who have six points from two matches, but the Cameroonian captain believes his side will beat Nigeria to pick the only available spot and head to Russia next year.

Cameroon recently left Russia, the venue for the World Cup next year, where they took part in the Fifa Confederations Cup, with lots of experience, which may give them an edge against a competition-starved Super Eagles in the recent time.

Moukandjo who spoke in Russia, told Fifa official website that “We showed that we’ve got quality, but obviously, we’ve still got work to do if we’re going to trouble the big boys”

“We’ve got a young team that’s only just getting acquainted with international competitions and we are confident to return to Russia next year at the expense of the Super Eagles.

Nigeria will host Cameroon at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo on August 31, in a match that the Super Eagles will need at least a draw to keep their world cup qualification dream alive.
