Germany have made history after reaching the final of the Russia Fifa 2017 Confederations Cup, becoming the first nation to reach the finals of the three Fifa’s most recognized football tournament for men in a row.
Germany reached the finals of the Fifa World Cup in Brazil 2014, the finals of the Fifa Olympic football tournament for men in Rio 2016, and have now reached the final of the Fifa Confederations Cup in Russia 2017. The feat is an accomplishment which only Germany have attained even though they have not won the three tournament.
France and Brazil are the only two nations to have won the three most recognized Fifa football tournament for men in the world. If Germany win the Confederations Cup in Russia, they will become the third nation to complete the feat, provided East Germany’s winning of the Olympic football for men in 1976 is considered.
Interestingly, the Germans played South American nations in all the three finals that they played in a row, in Brazil 2014 World Cup they defeated Argentina, in Rio 2016 Olympic football tournament for men they lost to Brazil, and they have booked appointment with South American champions Chile in the finals of the Fifa Confederations Cup.
The first and last time Germany reached the semi-final stage of the Fifa Confederations Cup was in 2005, and they finished third in the tournament. This is the first time they will be reaching the final of the competition, and they surely will be hoping to make history.
