Parishioners of St. Dominic Catholic Church in Yaba Lagos, defiled the early morning rain that planned to discourage participants in the 3rd edition of the Rev. Bro. Stephen Lucas Walking Competition which took place in the early hours of today.
Athletes had gathered at about 7am at the parish this morning, warming up in an early morning exercise, when the skies opened and rain started with plans to either disrupt or discourage participants from taking part in the programme.
The Pastor Rev. Fr. Felix Onemheghie led by example and the aged, young children, youths and middle-class were not found wanting as they entered the rain with full determination, and as though their faith in the “Walking Competition” would probably stop the rain.
The Walk Competition which had about 200 participant cautioned the rain, and at about 8am the rain was left with no other option than to let the exercise continue as they marched on to the Senate Building of the University of Lagos, Akoka.
