Chile Played, But Germany Scored Lone Goal To Win First Ever Confederations Cup Trophy

Chile paid dearly for a catastrophic defensive error that occurred in the 20th minutes of the Fifa Confederations Cup final at St. Petersburg to concede the only goal of the match from Lars Stindls strike, which gave the World Cup champions their first ever Fifa Confederations cup.

The South American appeared more experienced and did the playing, leading to a first half finish of possessing the ball by 63% while Germany had 27%, but the Germans were capable to curtail the physical strength of their opponent and stopped them from inflicting any danger on their side.

When the efforts of the Chilean side could not yield the desired result after series of efforts were made to enable them get a a goal, frustration set into the team leading to lots of foul play.

Efforts by the duo of Alexis Sanchez and Arturo Vida to help Chile get at least a draw proved abortive,  Ter Stegen made critical saves that denied them their scoring chances, while on some occasions the Chileans played the ball across the cross bar.

Alexix Sanchez free-kick in added time which seemed to be Chile’s last hope of taking the match into extra time was denied by the left hand dive of Ter Stegen which he parried and again Chiles hope was dashed by that singular act.

The win makes Germany to become the third nation to complete the set of Fifa’s three most recognized football tournament for men which includes the World Cup, Confederations Cup and Olympic football for men.

Chile were once again denied the opportunity to lay their hands on any Fifa organized football tournament for men, a dream which the South Americans had hoped to achieve in this match.
