Former Barcelona and Juventus right-back Dani Alves has ignored the offer of his former boss Pep Guardiola to sign a two-year contract with French giant Paris Saint German as a free-agent according to reports.

The 34-year-old Brazilian went for the mouth-watering £230,000 per week offer made by the French side, rejecting the £120,000 per week offer made by his former boss at Manchester City according to report from The Guardian.

French tabloid L’Equipe reported that Alves said he was sorry if he had upset Guardiola. “There was not only interest from Manchester City but from other English clubs,” he said. “I have often said the Premier League intrigues me a lot and there is a very interesting project there, too. I did speak with City officials.

The Guardian further quoted the right-back to say “But I have friends here (in Paris) and my wife loves this city. I was a little bit selfish when I went to Juve, I didn’t listen to my wife or friends. This time, I tried to be less selfish and to please everyone. I believe in happiness – that’s why I made the decision to come here. If Guardiola feels wronged, I apologise.”

Dani Alves decision to join the French giant will be a heavy-blow on former boss Pep Guardiola, as Pep knows the positive impact the Brazilian can make in a team when he is available. Further more, it also means Pep Guardiola will have to go shopping for a right-back before the end of the summer transfer to enable him pursue his dream of winning a silverware with the oil-rich premier league side.
