Barcelona have admitted that they are powerless to stop Neymar from making a £197million switch to Paris Saint-Germain, if he wants to leave according to reports from The Mirror.
The 25-year-old Brazilian superstar has been heavily linked with the French giant, but the Catalonian side believes that Neymar remains one of Barca’s key men ahead of a season in which they will attempt to wrestle back the La Liga crown from arch-rivals Real Madrid.
However, Spanish tabloid Marca reported that Barcelona club president Josep Maria Bartomeu has suggested it ultimately comes down to the players to decide as and when they move on.
The Mirror quoted the President to say “We want him to continue with us, he still has four years left, but the players decide if they want to go so there’s nothing more to say.
“We need him because, if we want to win [trophies], we need to have the best players.”
Barca face Real in a pre-season clash in Miami on Saturday as new boss Ernesto Valverde continues to put his stamp on the squad.
