Manchester United got a shocking victory against Juventus after a late own-goal from Alex Sandro ensured Mourinho’s home grabbed the maximum six points available in the game to move second on the table behind Juve.
The host took the lead in the 65th minutes when Cristiano Ronaldo brilliantly volleyed a long pass from Leonardo Bonucci into the net to beat De Gea which led to massive jubilation in Turin.
However, Juve’s joy grew dim when Mata converted a free-kick from outside the 18-yard-box to level up in the 86th minute before the own-goal made the difference following a constant pressure that was mounted by United.
It would be difficult for anyone who watched the game believe United could come back and win the game in such manner, but it would be more surprising to Juve’s players who were shocked when it eventually happened.
Jose Mourinho clashed with some players of Juve when the final whistle was blasted, after he cupped his ears at the home fan to ask if there was nothing they could say to United’s victory.
The victory means Juve will have to wait for their next victory to secure a qualification to the round of 16, while United will progress if they beat Young Boys at Old Trafford on 27 November and Valencia fail to beat Juventus.
