Substitute Ousmane Dembele rescued a late point for Barcelona in an exciting finish against Atletico which ended in a 1-1 draw to keep the Catalan side on top with Atletico remain second with one point adrift league leader.

Despite the Catalan side taking possession of the game against their host, they failed to score a single goal leading to a goalless first half that killed their efforts and made the game a bit dull.

The situation seemed to be heading to a goalless draw before Antoine Griezmann whipped in a corner for Diego Costa to head Atletico ahead in the 77th minute of the game

The home team seemed to have secured the maximum three points needed to go to the top of table, but Lionel Messi picked out Dembele with a minute left and his controlled finish beat Jan Oblak.

Diego Godin and Jose Gimenez ensured the duo of Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez were starved of opportunities making Dembele’s late goal the saving grace for the Catalan side.
