Barcelona beat Levante 3-0 to overturn a first-leg quarterfinal and reach the quarterfinal of the Copa del Rey.
A first-leg 2-1 victory by Levante put the Catalonia’s chances of qualification to jeopardy ahead of the second-leg encounter.
But Ousmane Dembele struck twice in the 30th and 31st minutes to restore Barca’s hoe before Lionel Messi sealed the win with a third goal in the 54th minute.
However, a lingering issue raised by Levante after the match suggests that Barca may be thrown out of the competition for fielding an ineligible player.
But Barca believes that a change in the rules which was made in November, meant the suspension does not apply to the Copa del Rey.
It will be recalled that Real Madrid once suffered a similar situation when they were expelled from the tournament despite progressing after a win.
