It was a recollection moment for Africa’s football as two African stars played vital role towards the demolish of Real Madrid in the Champions League.
The duo of Cameroonian goalkeeper and Moroccan forward played an inspirational role towards ending Madrid’s three successive UEFA Champions League reign.
Moroccan forward Hakim Ziyech opened scoring for the dutch side in the first 7 minutes of play before three other goals came through David Neres, Dusan Tadic and Lasse Schone in the 18th, 62nd and 72nd minutes respectively.
But it was 22-year-old Cameroonian goalkeeper Andre Onana who made several spectacular saves to keep the defending champions from scoring the needed goals to scale through, even though Madrid scored what looked like a consolation goal in the 70th minute.
A 1-4 victory was the scoreline which gave the Dutch side victory on 3-5 aggregate, with the result becoming a shock to bookmakers who had already written off Ajax.
It was a night never to be forgotten in a hurry, remiscience of the quality of game which Ajax exhibited in 1995 when the duo of Finidi George and Kanu Nwankwo played vital role to ensure Ajax success in Europe.
