Students of the Onitolo Senior Secondary school in Surulere-Lagos, have shown great interest ahead of the Sports Essay Broadcast Competition for secondary schools.
The mood in the school environment was a joyous one when the event was revealed today to students during their assembly by Mr Joseph Odoekwu.
It was a mixture of clash and blend of academic with sports. Students who are fans of several European clubs such as Chelsea, Manchester United and others re-emphasized on their club’s strength when the idea was introduced to them.
The Principal of the School Mrs Odubawo told the students that the partnership of Sports Intelligence Magazine with their school is in their best interest and enjoined all to take advantage.
“It is good that you all now have an opportunity to practice Sports Journalism in secondary school” she said. ” I will employ you all to key into this innovation”.
Mr Owolabi the Sports Officer who further corroborated the Principal’s position, reminded the outgoing SS3 students that this will also be an opportunity for them to learn the use of Camera and photography when they are through with their exams.
About 600 students from Onitolo Senior Secondary School are expected to be part of the programme. Expectations will be geared towards students exploring their knowledge of argumentative, descriptive, expository essays towards Sports writing.
