Former Super Eagles forward Kanu Nwankwo who is an ambassador had an upper hand over Samuel Eto, in the clash between Nigeria and Cameroon in the round of 16 at Egypt 2019.
Nigeria beat Cameroon 3-2 in a thriller encounter that saw Cameroon take the lead at half time. Giving Samuel Fils Eto hope over his fellow ambassador Kanu Nwankwo.
Kanu sat more patiently and watched as though he had spoken enough to the boys before the game. While Eto stood up severally dishing out orders and assuming the role of an emergency manager.
Alex Iwobi scored Nigeria’s third and the final goal of the game, which confirmed Nigeria winner of the clash.
Kanu may not have won an AFCON title during his hey days in the Eagles. His closest chance of winning the title was in 2000, but it was his co-ambassador Samuel Eto who snatched that victory.
But as an ambassador of the game where he sat side-by-side with Samuel Eto at the Alexandria Stadium. It was his side who emerged victorious in the clash. Despite Eto winning the AFCON title twice as a player.
