Former Super Eagles gaffer and Olympic medalist Samson Siasia has taken the bull by the horn. He filed a formal appeal against the obnoxious sanction melted on him by FIFA Ethics Committee TO CAS .
According to a statement issued by AIPS Africa President Mr Mitchell Obi. It read in part: “Siasia has submitted his statement of appeal to the Court of Arbitration For Sports (CAS) in Switzerland and asking the court to stop the FIFA decision until his appeal is heard”.
Siasia filed the appeal amidst battling for the release of his mother who has been kidnapped.
Obi further described the appeal as “A fight to finish for a man who loves to attack both as a celebrated player of the Eagles and a Coach”. “We can only pray that that Samson Siasia appeal hit the right cords and he finally gets the fair hearing which never was particularly in a case for which he is being punished simply on ‘motivated decision.”
Siasia’s ban came after FIFA’ Ethics committee found him guilty of having accepted that he would receive bribes in relation to the manipulation of matches that Perumal attempted to manipulate for betting purposes.
He was also handed a fine of $50,000 alongside a life ban from football activities.
Samson Siasia whose living and life revolves around football, remains the only Nigerian coach to have won the Olympics medal for men football on two occasions. In Beijing 2008 (silver) and Rio de Janeiro 2016 (bronze) respectively.
