Former Chelsea and Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho will earn £15 million a year at Tottenham, following his appointment as new manager according to reports from Daily Mail.
The Portuguese manager replaces the Argentine who was sacked on Tuesday night after performing below expectations at begin of season.
The sack of Pochettino was probably a shock to the fans, but they were not kept waiting for too long as they got another manager within a twinkle of an eye.
Jose Mourinho takes over after almost being away from coaching for almost a year. He was sacked at Manchester United in December 2018.
Metro Sports quoted the Portuguese to say: “I am so excited to be joining a club with such a great heritage and such passionate supporters, Mourinho said following his appointment.
“The quality in both the squad and the academy excites me. Working with these players is what has attracted me”
The source further disclosed that Spurs management were surprised at the drop in performance of the club since this season. They now advised Pochettino to step down.
Pochettino however refused that request and the Argentine was subsequently sacked. Pochettino guided Tottenham to maintain a top four position in the past four years. His ultimate performance with Spurs was reaching the Champions League final last season with the team.
Jose Mourinho who is known to be a winner of trophies comes with his weight and experience, and may be expected to transform the efforts of the Argentine into winning titles.
