The Super Eagles of Nigeria yesterday grabbed a thriller 4-2 victory against the Crocodiles of Lesotho to lead the group in the AFCON 2021 qualifiers.
The three-time African champions were subjected to an early lead in the first 11 minutes as Nsoko opened scoring for the home side.
Alex Iwobi struck in the 26minutes to ensure the Eagles leveled up. But it was Chuwkueze’s 38 minutes goal that ensured the Eagles took the lead by half-time.
Oshimen scored twice in the second half to put the Eagles in a comfortable lead before a late own-goal from Awaziem gave the Crocodiles their second goal of the match.
It was however obvious that was all they could get before their home-crowd.
The home side may not have dominated the game in terms of possession, but they made more attempts on goal more than the Super Eagles.
Lesotho finished up with 15 goal attempts that yielded just two goals, while the Super Eagles had 8 attempts on goal that gave 4 goals.
The Super Eagles are now on top of the group with six points from two games, while Benin Republic who got a victory against Sierra Leone are second.
