Two blood-sisters Fikayo Owolabi-Bada and Semilore Owolabi-Bada, became the toast of the championship as they slugged it out in the semifinal stage of the Somolu Newspaper U-16 Table Tennis Championship.
The event which took place on Friday 22 November 2019 at the Somolu Local Government Sports hall inside Agunbiade primary school witnessed 12-years-old Fikayo’s 2-0 victory over her 14-years-old sister Semilore.
Fikayo, a student of Strength Educational Academy won 11-1, 11-8 to reach her first final in the maiden edition of the competition.
However, she was humbled in the final when 11-years-old Surmer Balikis of Mims Comprehensive College handed her a 3-0 victory to clinch the first position.
Her elder sister whom she edged out settled for a third place joint position which also saw her happy at the end of the championship.
No love was however lost between the two sisters despite the outcome of the game as they were seen on several occasions after their game sharing lovely moments together.
Interestingly, the duo are both children of Mr. Sherrif Owolabi-Bada, who happens to be the organizer of the championship.
