The National President of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) Mr Honour Sirawoo, and his beautiful wife Mercy Sirawoo were recently honoured by the Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion)in a ceremony that took place in Abia State.
The official investiture of Sir & Lady Honour Sirawoo as Knight of St. Christopher (KSC) took place during a Church service that started at about 10:30 am on Friday, January 3, 2020 at the St. Peter’s Cathedral Owerrinta, in Isiala Ngwa South of Abia State.
Conducting the investiture, the Archbishop, Province of Aba, Most Rev. Isaac Nwaobia, Ph.D described Sirawoo and other beneficiaries as “a Warrior”, who must not be ashamed to be known for that, and further charged them to improve on the good work which they have been doing for the Church.
He also advised them to replicate their professional accomplishment in the society towards the church to enable its development, and promote the gospel by living exemplary lives.
Archbishop Nwaobia also reminded them that the investiture is a call by God himself, and it is for them to stand for what is right, and enjoined them to be models in the society .
Speaking exclusively to Sports Intelligence Magazine after the investiture, Sir Honour Sirawoo described the investiture as “an opportunity to do more for societal growth, work towards defending the Christian faith, with total regard for harmonious coexistence with faith based organisations”.
It will be recalled, that Sirawoo who also promised to support the growth of the Church after the investiture, is popular for his Youth Empowerment programmes in the Anglican Church and his Community, where a good number of youths have benefited immensely from his magnanimity.
Sirawoo was recently re-elected unopposed for a second term as National President of SWAN during the just concluded Triennial Delegates Congress which took place in Rivers State tagged Port Harcourt 2019.
