The third edition of the WhiteBird Taekwondo Academy (W.T.A) Under 15 kiddies’ championship which was slated to hold on Saturday April 25th 2020 has been officially postponed indefinitely.
The official notice for the postponement was contained in a statement made available to Sports Intelligence Magazine and signed by the CEO of the Academy Ms. Anita Aluya.
The statement which cited the closure of schools and taekwondo clubs as a result of the lockdown due to the outbreak of the covid-19 around the country, noted that safety of the kids is also important to the organizers.
“The schools and clubs are our esteem clients, and they are currently shut down due to the lockdown”. “We therefore postponed the event, while we pray for the safety of everyone” Aluya added.
Ms Aluya also stated that: “Although participating schools, clubs and states have received letters and email from us, even though the FG has announced the lockdown, we are obliged to do an official statement to notify them of also”.
She however charged parents, to ensure that while the children are staying at home, personal hygiene, use of sanitizers, and social distancing should be strictly observed to enable them remain safe.
She reassured all participating schools and parents that Whitebird Taekwondo Academy is ready for the third edition and a new date will be announced in due course.
It will be recalled that the outbreak of the coronavirus have had a global effect on sports calendar generally, with major events such as the Olympics which was scheduled for this year now postponed to 2021.
