League leaders Bayern Munich comfortably beat Union Berlin. The match which was played in an empty stadium is another strange game played in the coronavirus pandemic.
The absence of fans obviously made the game lose the quality which a typical Bayern victory would carry. But most people off the pitch wore face masks and goal celebrations were lowly celebrated.
Robert Lewandowski’s spot kick in the 40′ minutes gave the defending champions the lead. It was his 40th goal for Bayern this season. Benjamin Pavard doubled the slim lead with a header in 80′ minutes to give Bayern a guaranteed victory.
Bayern now go four points ahead with eight matches left to end the season. They will be hoping that Dortmund will at least drop point to enable them fast-track their emergence as champions.
