“We Want Our Kits To Become A Global Brand”-Barr Tunji Brown

The CEO of Owu Sportswear Barr. Tunji Brown has come out to clear the air on certain issues bothering on the image of the Nigerian-based Sports Kit manufacturing company.

Brown who fielded online questions on the Nigeria Sports Centre whatsapp group did not fail to acknowledge that Owu Sports Wear is trailing the likes of Adidas, Nike amongst others, but insisted that management is working round the clock to make our band a global brand”.

“We have aims to become a global brand, but it takes time and hardwork”. As I speak right now, we already have had some talks with some teams in Ivory Coast and Ghana, very soon and God willing we are looking up to good news” he said.

On whether Owu Sports kits manufactures for only premier league clubs, Brown re-instated that they are not just manufacturing football kits for clubs in the Premier league.

“We created a package for grassroots teams, and the package allows them to access our products at 35-50% discount, this is to encourage them and give them the assurance that Owu Sports Wear is not just for Premier League Clubs and also interested in grassroots football” he stated.

Barr. Brown who also debunked the speculations that Super Eagles 2018 World Cup jerseys which was manufactured by Adidas sold largely in Nigeria, agreed that Owu Sports wear is a brand struggling to get acceptance at home.

“ We have not been doing enough marketing” he said, but you must also realize that we are struggling for acceptance, no team in Nigeria can boast of 5000 sales a season and the money is not available to create the kind of budget that Nike and Adidas have”.

Owu Sports wear kits are currently officially sports wear manufacturing company of some Nigerian Professional leagues clubs, amongs them are Akwa United, Sunshine Stars, Abia Warriors to mention but a few.
