Chelsea have signed Senegalese goalkeeper Edouard Mendy according to reports from BBC Sports.
The 28-year-old joined Chelsea from Rennes, where he allowed just 0.76 goals per game in Ligue 1 last season.
For a fee of $26 million, the Senegalese will be expected to come replace Kepa at Stamford Bridge. Kepa’s gifting away of a second goal against Liverpool last season facilitated Chelsea’s urgent need to get a replacement.
“I’m so excited to be joining Chelsea,”. “It’s a dream for me to be a part of this exciting squad.”
Mendy has eight international caps, he is also Frank Lampard’s eighth signing of the transfer window.
He is the second goalkeeper after Petr Cech to join Chelsea from Rennes. The Senegalese also got very strong recommendation from Cech who is now club’s technical and performance adviser .
