Mbappe proved to be a perfect replacement of the ageing generation of stars, following a masterly performance at Camp Nou that helped his side beat Barca on their home ground.

The French who has been rumoured to leave may probably have a second thought after this performance if its true he ever thought of exit.

Mbappe stole the show from Lionel Messi, and put his side on a path that suggests they will go far. He showed the qualities of a typical World Cup winner, though the Champions League eluded his side last season when they reached the final.

A first-leg 4-1 defeat may be overturned just like the Catalans did after the French giants took 4-0 first-leg lead in February 2017 in France. But this dream looks practically impossible when both sides meet again on March 20.

The French side have probably seen the worst, and new boss Mauricio Pochettino who knows what PSG have gone through in the past would certainly not allow such happen.

Messi started off by opening the scoring through a penalty, but Mbappe’s hat-trick made the Argentine’s effort look insignificant . Before Kean’s 70′ minutes goal sealed the match.

Whatever remains of Barcelona were probably squeezed out by the ruthless PSG. They became the sixth team to beat Barca at home with a 3 goals margin.

It was the first time PSG got a victory at Camp Nou, but this victory is symbolic.

Koeman is now left to do a critical review of his ageing side after believing he could build a new Barca around Messi.

If anything good must happen to Barca, then ageing players like Messi, Pique, Busquet, Griezman amongst others must find their way out of Barca.
