Anambra State Discovers 8-Year-Old Potential Rugby Star

Anambra State has discovered a potential Rugby star following the just National Youth Games zonal elimination exercise which took place in Ebonyi State Sports Day reports.

The 8-year-old Zikora Mildred Agugo captained the U-15 Female Rugby Youth Team in the event which took place at the Abakaliki Township Stadium.

She guided the team to pick a qualification ticket for the upcoming  National Youth Games (NYG) billed for October 2021 at the University of Ilorin, Kwara State.

Rugby may not be a popular sport in Nigeria but it requires team work. An 8-year-old who guides an U-15 side to achieve such feat need to be nurtured.

There is urgent need for Stakeholders to give adequate attention to the girl and Rugby as a whole, and ensure that proper development steps are taken.

The discovery of Zikora Mildred Agugo is reminiscent of 10-year-old National Champion in Gymnastics Stephanie Onusiriuka, who was also discovered by the system put in place by the Anambra State Government.
