The Deaf Eagles of Nigeria arrived Nairobi- Kenya today by 1:20pm Kenya time (11:20 Nigerian time) for the 1st Africa Deaf Football Championships Sports Intelligence Magazine report.
The team had a stopover at Addis Ababa after their departure on Saturday before arriving and have settled down ahead of their first match which comes up on Tuesday September 14th against Zambia at the Nyayo Stadium.
Deaf Eagles who are in group c will also slug it out later on with Cameroon on Thursday September 16th in a final group match and will be hoping to finish top.
Speaking with Sports Intelligence Magazine from Nairobi, Coach Kamilu Banjo is confident that his team will do the nation proud in this qualifier.
“We have done it before, and I am sure we are going to pick up a slot for the Deaflympics qualifier” he started. “Though we had challenges before coming for the journey, we have decided to put that behind and move on”.
“The players are in high spirit and they are looking forward to do Nigeria proud in the championship he concluded.
Deaf Eagles of Nigeria have qualified for the Deaflympics on two occasion, and will be looking forward to make their third appearance in this qualifier.
