The Nigeria Football Supporters Club (NFSC) is the foremost club in country which was founded in 1955 with the aim of giving adequate support to the Nigerian football national teams. It is a club with proven track record and was declared the most entertaining club when she made her debut at the FIFA World Cup at the USA 1994 World Cup.
Since the club’s formation, NFSC have had several Patrons and Ambassadors who have supported the good work NFSC have been doing. Just like the club itself, our patrons and ambassadors must have a proven track record and passion for the development and support of the game of football.
In selecting a patron or ambassador, the National Executive Council of the club looks critically at the pedigree of the individual. They have to be sure that the said person must have made immense contribution towards the development of youth generally in communities. He must have passion for football too and be interested in promoting the activities of the club.
NFSC have never looked at tribal or religious differences as sentiment for picking a patron, neither do they look at the political party which the person belong. What is important is that the individual must have in mind the ‘Nigeria Project’, believe in it, and be willing to support any project that will promote the oneness of the Supporters Club and Nigeria as a whole.
In fact, these criteria enumerated goes a long way in determining the quality of individuals who have been honoured by NFSC in the country, with notable individuals such as the Late Chief MKO Abiola becoming the first known National patron of the club. MKO donated a 50-seater bus to the club and sponsored majority of our trips we also have High Chief Felix Anirah as national patron.
Others who have also been found worthy are Otunba Badero of Naira Pools, Former Presidents Chief Olusegun Obasanjo and Dr. Goodluck Jonathan, Former Rivers State gov. Dr. Peter Odili, Lucky Igbinedion, Adams Oshomole, Emmanuel Udaghan, late King of Ijhere Kingdom HRM Otadeferua, the Onoje of Ekpoma and Onoje of Ewu for the roles they played in promotion of grassroots Sports in their communities.
Others are the Ureh of Jesse Kingdom, deputy passport controller of Ikoyi LIMAN, Primate Ayodele Elijah founder of INRI, Gov. Okowa of Delta State, Nigeria Pillar of Sport, HRM King O MA Whisky Udurhie 1, Deputy Gov. of Edo State Philip Shaibu, Barr. Wale John Nani, High Chief Ben Odunze, High Chief Uzuigwe Kenneth, High Chief Augustine Okpala, Marcel Anyanwu, Pastor Chris Okafor of Mountain of Liberation & Miracle Ministry, Ifeanyi Elvis Ogbonna, Ezekiel of Zekel Cosmetics amongst others.
The standard set by NFSC have been recognized globally being a club that is aimed at unifying the nation.
